Golf Course Reviews

Golf Course Reviews

Here in Upstate New York we do not often have the opportunity to golf on Thanksgiving weekend.  This year it was beautiful and I was able to get two rounds in at a fairly new Jack Nicklaus Design course call Timber Banks.  This got me thinking about a feature I want to add to Get Ready For Golf, a Golf Course Review section where anyone can send me their own review of a favorite course to post on this blog.

You can email me your brief review of a course you have played along with a few pictures of the best holes.  Tell us what you think about the course layout, the condition of the greens, the level of services offered at the course, the best holes, worst holes, and your overall rating for the course on a 1 to 10 scale.  Some background information would also be useful, for example,  who was designer and any other interesting facts that you might know about the course.  Be honest and truthful, but not too vicious as this isn’t a club bashing exercise.  Also, remember a 10 rating is the ultimate course and should be very hard to obtain…like Augusta.

You will be given the byline and all of the credit for the review.  I will post a review in the next few days so you have an example of what I have in mind.

Would you find a golf course review section useful?  Let me know I would like to hear from you.

Get Ready For Golf: Blog One

Get Ready For Golf: Blog One

Welcome to Get Ready For Golf!

This is the first blog for this site.  The next few paragraphs to explain the content that this blog will contain, the reasons for publishing the content, and set the ultimate goals for this blog.

Get Ready For Golf will contain golf fitness tips, golf fitness exercise routines, golf course and equipment reviews, basic golf tips and interesting golf related stories.  Hopefully readers will contribute to the golf course and equipment reviews.  Commenting on blogs and participating with the polls is highly encouraged.  Goals for this blog include having readers try new methods to stay in shape or improve their game, to have readers and contributors learn from each other, and have reader participation in the form of poll taking, adding comments, and contributing blog content and reviews.

The main reason behind this blog is to encourage golf fitness; hopefully it will keep me on track and enthusiastic in completing my exercise routines.  I am not one that wants to drive to a gym and wait for equipment to come free, or listen to others grunt and groan as they workout.  So the exercises will not include large expensive equipment and can be done at home.  The first few blogs will concentrate on exercise equipment and outline the types of exercises I use to stay in golf shape.

The first few weeks the Get Ready For Golf Blog will undergo considerable change until I find a theme and look that I like.  So please try to stay patience while I work through the blogging process.

As for the photograph, that is me on the first tee (I think) of Timber Banks Golf Course in Baldwinsville, New York during a NYSGA State Day Tournament.  Timber Banks is the only Jack Nicklaus designed course in upstate New York.  It will be a beauty once it matures.
